Dr. George M. Langford, a distinguished professor of neuroscience, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences for his exceptional contributions to science and his dedication to promoting diversity in STEM. His research focuses on the actin cytoskeleton, and he has been recognized for his commitment to increasing diversity in STEM through programs like CHANCE and PAIR-UP. PAIR-UP, funded by a grant exceeding $1.4 million, aims to create a supportive community for Black imaging scientists, addressing the isolation and challenges they often face as minorities in their fields. Langford’s dedication to inclusivity and his distinguished career have earned him accolades, including the 2022 Public Service Award from the American Society for Cell Biology. His leadership and service have significantly impacted the scientific community, inspiring others to advocate for positive change.
